CHOICES LAUNCHES REVOLUTIONARY PATIENTS TO ADVOCATES PROGRAM
Memphis, TN. (06/07/2017) – CHOICES: Memphis Center for Reproductive Health is proud to announce the launch of our new Patients to Advocates program.
This revolutionary program will not only prepare participants to tell their personal stories to advocate for abortion access on a Lobby Day in Nashville, but will also give them the tools they need to become advocates for themselves and their communities throughout their lives. The ten month program will include workshops related to story-sharing, civics and participatory democracy, reproductive justice, and community organizing.
Targeted Restrictions Against Abortion Providers (TRAP laws) such as Tennessee’s 48 hour waiting period only serve to make it harder to access abortion care and place undue burden on vulnerable populations. Participants in our patients to advocates program will tell their stories to our state elected officials in order to highlight the ways these medically unnecessary laws have negatively impacted their lives.
This program is funded by the National Institute for Reproductive Health.
