The surgical abortion (first trimester abortion) option uses a method called aspiration, also commonly known as a vacuum or manual aspiration. For this option, your pregnancy must be between 6 weeks and 15 weeks based on the dating ultrasound performed in our clinic. The ultrasound usually corresponds with the time since your last normal menstrual period. Click here to use the Pregnancy Calculator.
NOTE: We do not file insurance claims directly for pregnancy terminations, but if your plan includes abortion coverage we are happy to provide you with an itemized receipt and all the information necessary to file your claim.
In a political attempt to make abortions more expensive and difficult to access, Tennessee state law now requires that you make two visits for an abortion, at least 48 hours apart. Choices is dedicated to helping you get the care and services you need. Your first visit will include counseling by a physician, an ultrasound, and lab work. Your second visit will consist of the procedure itself. Your second visit will be scheduled when you complete your first visit.
